Brian K. Valentine
Brian K. Valentine has extensive litigation and transactional experience, with an emphasis in family law, estate planning and probate, and appellate advocacy. Prior to joining Mickenberg, Dunn, Lachs, Hazel & Smith, PLC as a partner in 2008, he was with the Vermont firms of Little & Cicchetti, P.C. and Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC.

Before relocating to Vermont in 2000, he practiced for five years in Bellingham, Washington with an AV rated firm, focusing on general litigation, estate planning, and small business advising; he also worked as lead staff attorney for a non-profit organization that represented victims of domestic violence. Prior to that, he was with the 135-attorney Newark, New Jersey firm of Sills Cummis Epstein & Gross, P.A., litigating complex matters before state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey.

Brian received a B.A. in communications/philosophy from Fordham University in 1985, and his J.D. from Fordham Law School in 1989, where he was a member of the Fordham International Law Journal. Between college and law school, he worked as a community organizer in the Bronx. He is an adjunct professor at CCV where he lectures on the Constitution, and is a CLE presenter on estate planning and probate law; he also volunteers at the Chittenden Family Court as a guardian ad litem and as an instructor of the pro se divorce education course. Originally from Connecticut, he now lives in Huntington with his wife Kirstin and their two young children. He is an avid gardener, coaches youth soccer, and is a lieutenant with the local volunteer fire department, as well as a member of the first response squad
